Christmas 2009

Christmas Eve was spent at the McBride's this year. Verda made us dinner and there was just a few of us there. After dinner, we came home and opened the traditional Christmas Eve pajamas.
Dewey has really gotten the hang of opening presents.

The kids also get a new ornament each year.

Sean even bought me some pajama pants. I quit buying him pajama pants years ago. He has to many and hardly ever wears them anyway.

Before going to bed, we watched the church video "Joy to the World". We all sat on the couch together and the kids actually watched the whole thing. Dewey refers to any picture of the savior now as "baby jesus", no matter what the age. The picture below is of Santa's cookie plate. This year we just kind of found different treats that neighbors and friends had given to us, since I never made any cookies. Oh, and the carrots are for the reindeer's. Hallie also wrote a letter to Santa and left it on the plate. If you cannot read it, it says Dere Santa, I want for Christmas it will be moxies a lot from Hallie. It's pretty jumbled up. She's a funny girl!

Sean and I didn't get much sleep that night. Dewey woke up at like 1:30 and we couldn't take him out into the living room. We didn't want him to see that Santa had come, so we put him into bed with us. He woke up again at about 6:30 saying "I got a football". That's when we decided to get out of bed and wake Hallie up. I love this picture of Dewey with his football. As you can imagine, his dad is also pretty proud of it.

If you didn't already know, this is what a "Moxie" doll is. Basically like a Bratz doll, but not as ugly. This is really all that Hallie had asked for.

Dewey got a Geo Trax train set.

He also got these car slippers. He really loves the movie Cars.

Sean had told me that garments are a boring present to give someone, so I had to take a picture of him when he opened his "boring" present. Who doesn't love a fresh new pair of white garments? :)

We bought Dewey this Nerf gun and found out it is to hard for him to shoot. Oh well, at least we have fun with it.

I really think that the stockings are the best thing on Christmas morning and we always save those for last.

These are our ginger bread houses that we decorated earlier in December. I told the kids that I would take a picture of them, if they would let me throw them away and it worked.

After opening presents, we had Dave and Nancy over for breakfast. Sean opened up a present from his Dad to find a new Wii game system. It's so nice to have parents that spoil us! We spent the rest of the day at different family members houses. Once again, we had a great Christmas and before we know it, it will be here again. :)

Christmas Parties

Our first family party was at the McBride's. They just added on a new family room to their house and this was the first time that we were able to use it fully finished. We started by eating some of Kathy's delicious soups. Below is a picture that Hallie took of Sean and I. ( I forgot to blog about our 10 year anniversary that we celebrated on the 11th of Dec. I love you Sean!!)
Santa always comes to visit and brings presents. Dewey wanted nothing to do with him. So far, I have no pictures of Dewey with Santa. Maybe next year. All of the kids got new pajamas and slippers.

Our second party was at my parents house. Every year we draw names and the youngest gets to go first. Dewey got a Handy Manny with his tool box and tools.

Notice Dewey is sitting with my niece Cassie. He absolutely loves "Tassie" and calls her his girlfriend. Some day we will have to let him know that he cannot have cousins as girlfriends.lol

Hallie got a sweater and this huge jewelry set. She has been asking for a set like this for years, so she was pretty excited.

After all the little kids opened their presents, we drove into Jensen's Grove to see the live nativity. This is the first year that we have gone and it was pretty fun. You get to ride on wagons led by horses around to different nativity scenes. Here we are waiting in line.

This is our Bishop's family. They were one of the more interesting nativity scenes to watch.

After the nativity, we headed back to my parents and then it was the adults turn to open their presents. Both party's were a lot of fun and we look forward to them every year.

Christmas Program

Hallie recently had a Christmas program with her school. They had grades 1-5 participate. First grade went first and they sang a couple of songs. Here they are getting ready.

We left after the first grade sang to free up some seats for more parents. It really wasn't all that exciting, but at least I have pictures right? When we got home, Dewey wanted to put on all of Hallie's props.

I recently ordered my kids new coats and Hallie insisted that I take a picture.

Road Trip

Recently we went on a little trip to the November 9 Broncos vs. Steelers NFL game in Denver. Sean's parents friends had been planning this trip for a while and had chartered a bus. Out of 53 people on the bus, there were only about 7 Broncos fans. I just went with the team that Sean was rooting for and he really is a Cowboys fan. The bus ride there was about 12 hours. We messed around Monday morning and did a little shopping on 16th street. Sean's cousin Jake lives in Denver and we hung out with him most of the day. We all bought the same shirt because they were on clearance for six dollars. How cheap are we?

This was our BYU band bus that we rode in. Go Cougars!!

If you look back to the right you can see me. This was before we left to come home. Our bus ride home took longer than we had hoped. One of the tires had a nail in it and we had to sit and wait for it to be fixed.

Even though the Broncos didn't win, the trip turned out to be a lot of fun. I actually knew some of the people on the bus. Some of them went to the Orthodontist that I used to work for. They asked me why I looked so familiar. Thanks Will and Kathy for inviting us on such a fun trip.

Halloween and School Events

Halloween started on the 30th for our family this year. My mom had her annual Halloween party. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my camera and didn't get any pictures. It was also Sean's birthday. He's now the ripe old age of 32. Hallie really wanted to be Belle this year. I made my first ebay purchase and bought this dress for $16 dollars, shipping and all. I was very proud of myself! :) I made Dewey's "bearded gnome" costume. There wasn't much to it, but I think he looked really cute.

Hallie's school had a Halloween parade through the halls and the gym. It was fun to go watch and see all of the different costumes.

Hallie was also recognized this month for "Student of the Month" in an assembly. Her teacher described her as well behaved and kind. We never hear anything but good from Hallie's teachers. She really is a good girl!

Dewey's First Haircut

So now that Dewey is over two years old, we decided that it was time to trim up his hair. I know what you're thinking, "what is there to trim"? He actually did have a chunk of hair right on top that stood straight up and a lot of fuzz in the back. We put him up into the chair, put the cape on him and then he started to cry. He never tried to sit up or get out of the chair, he just made this sad face and cried.
Hallie was a little worried if we cut Dewey's hair, that it wouldn't grow back. I had to remind her that she has had many haircuts and her hair always grows long again.

Dewey now asks me to put his hair "up" when I comb it. There isn't much to comb, but he does look very handsome!

I wanted to throw one last thing into this post. If you look very close, you will notice that the stick does have a plus sign on it. Yes, I am PREGNANT. My due date is May 15 and we are not going to find out the sex of this baby. Everybody thinks we are crazy and that we will not be able to do it. That just makes me want to do it even more! We are very excited and in the end, it is going to be a lot of fun.
