A Day At the Zoo

Wednesday I had the opportunity to go to the Zoo with Hallie and her class. We hopped on the buses and drove to the Tauphus Park Zoo. Hallie is so into giving me the peace sign lately in all of her pictures. It drives me crazy! I just want a cute picture of her without the peace sign.

This was the little group I was in charge of. l to r Hallie, Lauryn and Kamri. They were a lot of fun.

Here they are watching 11 baby ducklings follow their mother. This area of the Zoo stinks soooo bad!!

The first time we went to see the Lion, it was asleep so they were very excited when we went back and it was awake.

It's always a lot of fun to go on field trips and listen to all of the kids. I can't believe Kindergarten is coming to an end and Hallie is almost a 1st grader.

Memorial Day Weekend

This year for Memorial weekend we went to Sawmill Canyon. Our little family was the first to arrive, so we saved a camping spot and just hung out. Not long after we arrived, we were told by some other campers that they had a wolf walk through their campground the night before. Lets just say, we didn't let the kids get to far out of sight. Hallie and Dewey shared this chair since most of our stuff was in my parents camper.

Sean found a dead tree and decided to be a lumber jack. Our family always leaves a lot of fire wood for the next lucky camper.



This is a baby Elk that our friends just happened to spot close to the side of the road. We made sure not to touch it, incase its mother returned. It was so cute. The following morning it was gone. We were hoping that its mother came back and it didn't get eaten by a wolf. This is probably something we will never see again.



Notice the snow in the background? There was still quite a bit of snow everywhere. This was a very muddy ride up to an old cabin.

Sean and my brother Doug were standing by the fire talking. I asked them to pose for a picture and this is what they did. Nerds!!

Dewey and Rhett were eating Starbursts in this picture. We tried the whole roasting Starbursts and I cannot say that they were all that great. I guess it's a girls camp thing. I think I will stick to Smores.

Dewey was Grandpa's little shadow most of the trip. He helped my Dad do all sorts of things.

This is my sister Deena and her two daughters Cassie and Brandee. I can't believe how grown up they are now!

Marilee threatened me if I put any pictures of her on my blog. Sorry Marilee, but I had to have pictures of who went camping with us. :)

Dewey and Rhett had a lot of fun getting pulled around in the wagon.

This was a fun place for the kids to play. They liked throwing rocks into the water.

This trip was a lot of fun. We did get rained on a little, but not too much. We are looking forward to many more camping trips this summer.

Dance Recital

This was Hallie's first year of dance at Downtown Dance Studio. She had dance every Tuesday after school. At the end of every year they have one big recital for all of the level classes and the show team. This was the first night of her recital. It was pretty stressful getting her hair curled just right and putting makeup on her. I know I am a girl and I should enjoy this stuff, but I don't.

This is Hallie's cousin Shaylee that also danced with her. Can you believe that they are the same age? Shaylee is so tiny!

We were sitting up to high on the bleachers, for my camera to take any decent pictures. Hallie is on the very back row, just between the C and the K.

This was the Kindergarten class. They wore black and pink boa's around their necks and danced to Cruella Deville. They all did a really good job and were a lot of fun to watch. Hallie did so good! She was very serious and watched her teacher the whole time. She will start dancing again this fall. We are looking forward to her next recital.

Baby Animal Day

Last Saturday we met my sister Dawnette and her kids at the fairgrounds for Baby Animal Day. We started off with the horse rides. Last year the lines were so long, we decided to get that over with first. This is a picture of Hallie and Shaylee "milking" a cow.

This baby duck was one of Hallie's favorite animals of the day.

We couldn't get Dewey to go into any of the pens. He's still a little afraid of most animals.

This little bunny was sooo cute! Notice Dewey in the background keeping his distance. If it wasn't for buying a cage and feeding it, I might have given in and bought one. Maybe next year.

We tried to get Dewey to hold it and he tried hitting it.

I cannot believe he got so close to this snakes cage.

They also had free face and nail painting.

Right after the lady got done painting this ladybug, Hallie wiped her cheek with her hand. She had to sit back down and fix it. As soon as we got home, Hallie ran into the bathroom and washed it off. She's funny!

Every year we go, there is more and more people. It's a lot of fun to watch our kids around animals and how they react. Hallie loves anything that has to do with the fairgrounds.
