Memorial Day Weekend

Despite the bad weather reports, we decided to tough it out and go camping anyway. We went to Antelope and camped in Iron Bog. This is a picture of our new house. After many years, we finally have a camper. We love it!!
We were the first family to arrive.

Dewey gave it a try on the motorcycle. He did ok, but he needs some more practice.

Hallie moved up to a bigger motorcycle. I have to thank my sister's family for sharing their motorcycles.

Saturday ended up being a pretty nice day. We went on a little hike up a trail that lead to some caves. This one was a little harder to get in and out of. We formed a kid assembly line, to make sure they got out okay.

We found a quicker way back to camp, but it involved crossing this log. The men went across just fine, but most of the women and kids didn't want to take any chances of falling in.

Marilee was the only woman that would walk across.

This is what we woke up to on Sunday. I guess it helped us to relax more and "observe the sabbath". :) We did end up watching a few movies that day. Even though the weather wasn't the greatest, we had a really fun time.

Showcase 2010-2011

May 20th and 21st were the two big nights this year for Hallie's Dance Recital. She is in a level class at Downtown Dance Studio. After all of the hair curling and makeup, I took a few pictures before we left the house. Here she is doing what she does best "posing".

Her cousin Shaylee is in the same age group as her. I couldn't get a decent picture of both of them, so I decided on the goofy one.

Hallie told me that she had messed up the second night of recital. After looking at this picture, I realized this is when she messed up. She is on the third row back and she is the only one moving her arms. :)

1 Year Old

Hank recently had his first Birthday. We had a barbecue since it was such a nice day.
Here he is getting ready to open his presents. What do you get a 1 year old?? I told everyone to get him clothes. I know, that is boring, but that is all he really needed. The boys room is all ready overflowing with toys.

We took Hank shopping earlier that day and tried on these shoes. He isn't use to wearing shoes and didn't like them one bit. He cried until we took them off. It was hilarious! When he opened up his present and found the shoes, this is the face he made. He then threw the shoes away from him. :)We sang Happy Birthday and then gave him his cake. He is our first child to actually dig into his cake and not just sit there and bawl.

At the last minute, I remembered his Birthday hat. He didn't care much for that either.

1 year statistics:

• 24 pounds 12 ounces



• 30 inches



• crawls really fast, but not walking yet



• loves to eat just about anything



• has 8 teeth, 4 on top and 4 on bottom



• says "hi"



• makes a panting sound for a puppy



• everyone thinks he is missing a front tooth, because of his gap :)


• doesn't like touching grass

Preschool Graduation and Other Firsts

Dewey recently graduated from Small World preschool. This is the same school that Hallie went to. It was a lot of fun to watch Dewey up on the stage. He can be pretty shy, so it was good to see him participating.

All of the kids had their own part in the program. Dewey's was "we love story time or acting out plays". He had it memorized and he did really good.

I recently took the kids to the dentist for cleanings. This was Dewey's first time going to the dentist.

Here he is watching TV with headphones. He did really well and was excited to pick out his own toothbrush.

Dewey is now riding his bike without training wheels. It took him a while to get the courage to take them off. This is something that could have happened last summer, but we just couldn't talk him into it. All he needs now is a bigger bike.

Easter 2011

Easter morning started out with the annual hunt for the Easter baskets. There are different clues in eggs hidden throughout the house. This year they found their baskets in the back seat of the car. I couldn't get Hank to look up at me for a good picture.

Here are the kids all dressed up and ready for church. I actually managed to get a picture and get to church on time.

Grandma Packer had her annual Easter egg hunt. It actually turned out to be a pretty nice day. Hank was happy to be outside swinging with the big kids.

After dinner, the hunt began. They had a lot of fun with their cousins and came home with way too much candy.
