A couple of weeks ago, Sean and a couple buddies from work decided to roast a pig. They watched a lot of You-Tube videos and decided how they were going to do it.
They had to have a lot of coals, so they made a huge fire.
The kids had a lot of fun playing with each other and watching the whole process.
They bought a pig from Hopkin's and this is what it looked like when they picked it up. Hopkin's cleaned it out and had it all ready to go.
Sean just couldn't wait to eat the pig. :)
The kids all put on gloves and wanted to touch the pig.
First, they had to inject the pig with Wade's special brine.
They tried to stick an apple in its mouth, but rigamortis had all ready set in and they couldn't get it open.
Next, you wrap it in tin foil.
Last, you cover it in burlap and chicken wire.
This is a picture of the morning after. They covered it with sheet metal and dirt while it cooked. Here is Eric cleaning off all of the dirt.
Here is the final product.
Dewey is so proud of this picture holding the skull.
They figured most people(mostly the women) would be a little less grossed out if they pulled off the meat and put it into a roaster. I didn't really think seeing the pig before hand would gross me out, but I only had one bite of the meat. I just couldn't do it. :) Everyone else loved the meat and I'm pretty sure the guys had a lot of fun roasting it.
